School Projects

Sociological Storytelling

This was a project done for the Asian American Studies course, Asian American History, 1850 to Present in 2022. Sociological Storytelling explores my family’s refugee past and how the sociological history surrounding my parents’ immigration impacted the course of our lives.

Caring For Cats interview

The final project for course JOUR 3102: Multimedia Production and Storytelling required on-site interviewing along with B-Roll. I chose to interview Betsy Clark, the Operations Manager at Caring For Cats, who told me how the pandemic affected the shelter.

ORG Projects

#VLikeME was a promotional campaign done for Viivncaus - Hmong Women’s Group at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2019. The campaign was made to promote Hmong women solidarity as well as reinforcing the Viivncaus brand as an uplifting and community-centered platform.

ART Projects

Call Me MV

One of the final projects in the course, ARTS 1704: Introduction to Moving Images, required pairs to storyboard, film and edit a three to four minute music video. My classmate, Hazel, chose the iconic song by Blondie, collected band footage and graciously volunteered to be the star of our video while I filmed and edited the rest of the video.

EXPERIMENTAL MV

For the last project in ARTS 1704, the class was challenged to create an experimental short film. My take on this challenge was to use experimental filming techniques. At first glance, there is not much that seems experimental about this music video. But what if I were to tell you that I filmed every action in “reverse motion” and then reversed the footage while editing to make the action seem natural?

FISH MARKET STOP ANIMATION

Another ARTS 1704 project, this stop animation was my overall favorite video to make but was also one of the most tedious to shoot due to staging and set design.
